“Recently I came home to Australia for the first time since the enormous wild fires of 2019. Standing in the mountains you would normally see thick and lush forests all around, now all I saw for miles and miles were the blackened tree trunks of the Blue Mountain Ash and melted glass. The Co2 produced by these wild fires was equal half our emissions for the year here in Australia - Almost 200m Tonnes. These wild fires demonstrated to the developed world at large the immense perils we are in due to Climate Change. It highlighted the reality that it is not just island nations, or people in foreign lands who will be affected by this, we cannot disassociate from this, we are all in this together and it affects us all.”
